¿Qué canciones fueron prohibidas luego del 11 de septiembre de 2001?

El 11 de septiembre de 2001 se volvió una fecha fatídica no solo para la historia de Estados Unidos sino también del mundo. Luego del ataque a las llamadas Torres Gemelas,  ámbitos sociales, geopolíticos y hasta lo musical fueron temas que sufrieron modificaciones para los habitantes del país.

En medio del homenaje a las víctimas de 90 nacionalidades de los atentados perpetrados contra las Torres Gemelas, el Pentágono cerca de Washington, y el que estrelló en un campo de Pensilvania hoy nos enfocaremos en el área musical  ¿Qué pasó con algunas canciones y su transmisión en radio?

Luego de estos ataques, Clear Channel Communications, que actualmente es IHeartMedia, prohibió la transmisión de casi 200 canciones debido a su contenido “líricamente cuestionable” ya que mencionaban palabras relacionadas con fuego, ataques, aviones, asesinatos o Nueva York .

Esto fue conocido como el Memorando de Clear Channel, mismo que fue negado luego de que se hiciera pública la información causando polémica por la censura de temas que no tenían nada de lo establecido por la empresa.

Artistas como Rage Against The Machine fue la banda más censurada, todas sus canciones estaban en la lista, debido a que la agrupación de Zach de la Rocha y Tom Morello era una de las que más criticaba a Estados Unidos.

Esta censura fue más con tintes políticos ya que hasta “Imagine” de John Lennon, que habla sobre la unión y evitar los conflictos fue prohibida.

De igual forma Clear Channel también hizo a un lado el heavy metal que, a pesar de no incluir los tópicos, no se podían tocar en la radio. A continuación el listado de las canciones prohibidas.
